Advisory

The Advisory Committee provides a historical perspective of the Association for the guidance and assistance of its officers and directors. It also conducts an annual review and analysis of the Association's policies and practices, resulting in written recommendations to the incoming officers and directors. The committee is chaired by the immediate past-president of the Corporation, and membership is limited to active members who have served at least one two-year term as a director of the Corporation.

Auction

The Auction Committee organizes and staffs the Association's largest fundraiser, an annual Chinese Auction. This includes soliciting and collecting donations from members and the local business community and acknowledging these donations. Since 2002, the auction committee has been chaired by the advisory committee, but it is open to all members.

Bar Liaison

The Bar Liaison Committee is charged with developing and maintaining communications with the New York State Bar Association and the local Bar associations in the Western New York area. It is chaired by an officer or director of the Corporation and is open to all members.

Membership

The Membership Committee promotes the benefits of membership and attendance at meetings, replies to inquiries regarding membership, receives and processes membership applications, receives and processes changes of address and employment submitted by members, updates NFPA’s listing of WNYPA members, notifies members of meetings, and publishes an on-line membership directory. The committee is chaired by the Second Vice-President of the Corporation and is open to all members.

National Affairs

The National Affairs Committee monitors events, legislation and case law affecting paralegals nationwide, assists in the development of NFPA policy and WNYPA policies consistent with those of the Federation, and is authorized to assume responsibility for a NFPA committee assignment. It is chaired by the Corporation's Primary or Secondary NFPA Representative and is open to all members.

Newsletter

The Newsletter Committee publishes the Association’s quarterly newsletter, Paramount. In this endeavor, it is responsible for content and on-line publication, including reporting activities and the compilation and editing of articles. The committee is chaired by the Editor of Paramount and is open to all members.

 

Professional Development

The Professional Development Committee plans and conducts the Association's annual continuing legal education seminar, assists specialty section chairs and promotes attendance at specialty section meetings, conducts surveys, and advises members of other area CLE offerings. The committee is open to all members.

Programming

The Programming Committee plans general membership meetings and prepares meeting notices. It is chaired by the First Vice-President of the Corporation and is open to all members.

Public Relations

The Public Relations Committee obtains media publicity and/or coverage of WNYPA activities. It is chaired by a director or officer of the Corporation and is open to all members.
